AENYR - Beyond the Shell

starting off this weeks reviews we have an Italian band that blends super heavy crushing djent riffs with elements of progressive metal and metalcore. The production on this track is absolutely crazy , the drums are being beaten hard and sound super good. These riffs are super thick, full and combine so well with the tone of these drums. We get some really nice cymbal work in here too. Vocally this track is very impressive as well. Absolutely great blend of harsh and clean , you can definitely feel the emotion in this track.

Etherea - Bring Me Underground

Next up we have a Canadian hard rock/metal band that is female fronted. Straight away I was curious about this track from the artwork, it definitely looks like the cover of a good album. This band blends in elements of classical in a way that isn't over powering. Slight bells and chimes and some strings in the back of the mix. The vocalist has an absolutely beautiful voice, this track also has some bits of prog rock flowing through the track. The lyrics and vocals are absolutely packed with emotion. The guitar work backs up this emotion , the guitar sounds like its singing alongside the vocalist. The song is pretty well mixed but still has some rough, grittier elements to the track i think actually works in its favor. The bands name is super fitting for the sound they are producing.

Jonestown - Viy

Some metal from Sweden, right from Stockholm. This area seems to produce some really great bands and this one is no exception. This tracks starts of super ominous with bells and some really great creepy guitar that immediately shifts into some just hard hitting, crushing thrash riffs and you know this track is about to take you for a ride. The tempo really picks up and this band is about to show you what they are all about. The band does a great job of letting all the elements of the instrumentation shine through. This is a great moshing tune the guitar is unrelenting. Vocally it sounds really great, the vocalist has a more of a clean approach and has a super powerful voice. The track has a lot of great tempo shifts , breakdowns and over all just a fun track to jam.

Imaginal Cells - The Spirit Of Things

This track start off absolutely magical. This opening really has a classic rock feel to it and the bass sounds fantastic. Thick , bouncy and groovy. Makes you want to move. The melody here is super catchy and entertaining. The lyrics are fun but also carry some serious weight. This song really puts the life around us we take for granted into perspective. This songs feels like a heavier Seals & Crofts style of a song. Elements of psychedelic rock in here especially the video! we get some organ and choir in here too. Bird sounds, I mean its just a really peaceful track. Its not quite as heavy as most of the music I review but man is this song enjoyable.

Gloom is Okay - Repeat Offender

This next track has to be the most brilliant song I have personally heard in awhile. The writing that went behind this is genius. The potential for this to be a massive successful hit is high. This track is packed full of creativity. This track has a really pop element to it with these electronic sounds and style of vocals. We get a really interesting digital sounding beat that is the backbone of the song. But what really made me appreciate this song was the ability to blend in heavy guitars and bass with such a pop style beat being the main driving element of the verses. This track is so catchy that its insane. It gets stuck in your head and I am not even mad about it. The vocals mixed with this bouncy beat are super groovy. I really hope to see this track spread far and wide.
