Spleen - Say Goodbye
Now this is a fun one. Six piece Nu-Metal group from Italy. I always love to see new and upcoming Nu-Metal groups and these guys really nailed it. Right away we get some hip hop groove and turn table sounds. The first image we see of the band you can tell these riffs are going to smack. These whispering vocals before the boom is a classic Nu-Metal element that was implemented well here. We get those super dissonant riffs mixed with heavy bass and it fulfills that need we feel for it. The video is eerie , minimalist , and gritty which fits super well with this chaotic track. Super fun one i definitely recommend.
Brian Moody - Madness Remains
This one was interesting , a bit different! I wasn't quite sure where this track was going. It starts off with a creepy piano riff. As soon as these fuzzy, crunchy riffs kicked in I knew I was in for a ride. This song does not disappoint. I honestly cant quite put this into a specific sub genre. I would just say it is kick ass heavy metal. The vocals are really brilliant. I honestly love the cleaner vocals more than the harsh vocals in this track which isn't something I get to say too often. This guy really nailed all elements of this track. Vocally, Instrumentally, this is a powerful tune.
Actum Est - Void Star Throne
This group was founded in 1996, when i heard this my hopes were high for something to be masterful. I think it deserves that accolade. The vocals are a great representation of what you hope a good black metal vocalist to sound like. The blast beats are spot on , kick ass. The riffs , lyrics , samples, and vocal inflections very much give the song an atmospheric sound that is quite entertaining. Some areas of the track sound a little more refined that i would personally prefer for black metal but over all it is a high quality , well written track that shows experience.
Charnel Crown - In For A Penny
Groove metal from Dublin Ireland! I always love me some quality groove metal and this is definitely good quality. Its bouncy , aggressive and full of groove. Good groove bands let the bass talk, the bass is speaking to me in this track. The drums sound great and are full of character. The vocalist did a great job of using different vocal approaches. The cadences are fun, angry and the voice is blistering. The brief guitar solo is a nice tough. This group has a message for you! its to listen to their kick ass music.
SAME PAINS - shoulder
well this track didn't give me a chance to settle in before it smacked me in the face. Blending elements of hardcore and metalcore. this track is absolutely chaotic. The vocalist really takes control of the track with crushing screams. The melodic backing vocals are a great touch. This is a very bi polar track, quickly switching up between manic heaviness and melancholic, slow moving melodies. Its a gut punch to your feels. Really high quality production in the audio and visuals. Very promising release from this group.
