FALSE MESSIAH - Last Sanctuary
The drums are piercing and sound great right from the start. These guitar tones are very gloomy , the track has an apocalyptic feel to it. The visualizer seems to build on this concept. The vocals come in strong , emotional and fit right in with the gloomy guitar feel. Production wise this track is pretty solid. Every element of the track is clear but it is not overly produced. Maintaining its heavier edge. This track is a good blend of hard rock , metal and some elements of classical music.
no.exe - Cut
This artist(s) has an interesting message to share, a unique backstory that makes the track a bit more interesting. They claim to not be a band , but an execution. They rejects showing their faces, and rejects labels. leaving us with an interesting quote "Anonymity is not a hiding place - its a requirement to keep the data pure."
This track starts with some static filled screams panning in the background. It gives you the feeling a heavy brutal , slamming instrumental is about to kick in and it definitely does. This track is filled with Nu Metal rage. Thick chunky riffs , dynamic screams. Showcasing different styles of heavy vocals that really make this song kick ass. Super heavy gutturals. The track is very clean and well produced.
Achille Pérès - Mind Games
This track starts with some really interest effects on the guitar that sound like really deep synths. We get a lot of electronic elements blended in with heavy guitars and groovy drums beats. This track definitely has a more modern metal feel to it with these almost robotic effects on the vocals. Some progressive metal elements sprinkled in this track. Interesting chord progressions. The blend of two sets of vocals, heavy and clean works really well here. Parts of this track sound like smooth rock while other areas feel like really heavy , face punching metal. The contrast works nicely here.
Clash of Vlooms - Serval
Interesting band name here! something about the name and artwork makes you think of doom and this track heavily delivers on the doom. The guitar riffs are so fuzzy and thick it sounds insane. Talking about insane, the vocalist sounds absolutely mental. The anguish in the vocals takes this track above and beyond. This entire track is an assault on your ears in a good way. the low slow breakdown with distorted samples is just absolutely heavy in every sense of the word. This would be a great addition to any doom playlist.
Dead Man's Switch - Stakes Out In Salem
The artwork here really draws you in to want to hear what this band brings. I was not disappointed. This band nails the mid 2000s heavy metalcore sound and makes it their own. There is a nice balance of melody and ear rupturing heaviness. The guitar riffs make this song feel really special. There is a little bit of Killswitch Engage vibes in here with the melodic guitar blending in with the chunky riffs. The vocalist knows exactly what to do to carry the track forward and did this greatly. The bridge section was my favorite bringing some bits of groove metal with a really bouncy, head banging section.
RedLight - Les Dérives
French group founded in 2007 and is absolutely bringing the funky , groovy vibes. The drums carry a simple but uplifting beat. The guitar sounds perfect , not doing too much but doing just enough to make you want to move your body. The vocals are intriguing and fit the instrumental style really well. This synth beat in cohesion with the drums make this a great song to dance to. This is somewhere in-between nu wave and indie rock. It works very well. Its a fun song, would be great for a road trip.
Paul Dunne - My Alien Drank All the Beer
Ending off this review we have something very unique. My initial listen to this reminded me that art is alive and well. This piece was recorded over two days traveling through the California desert. It is such a great , entertaining blend of psychedelic , fuzzy , garage rock. I love the production quality here. It is super raw , right in your face kind of rock. Its unapologetic in every way. This screams individuality , here i am. With a track name like this you just know you wont be disappointed. This is a good song to put your headphones on , lay back and take a little trip.
