Kutie - Bloodmoon
starting off the reviews for today we have an upcoming band of youngsters who are blending rock, punk and metal. Building up some momentum in California. I have to say I was pretty impressed with this track and video. The video is very simply shot but works good with this raw track. Intense riffs packed full of dissonance , absolutely screeching vocals. The band is female fronted and she definitely delivered with power. The drumming is also notable, I think it is a large part of the track having replay value. There is some touches of Nu Metal vibes in this track as well with the instrumental being quite bouncy. Its always nice to see a young band out there experimenting.
Mannkvern - Avgrunn
You can just already tell from the intro of this track it is going to be ferocious. These riffs scream of great black metal, the vocal blend is pretty interesting. We can hear some softer vocals in a chanting , folk style with the absolutely invigorating black metal screams merging into this track. Great drumming giving this song a lot of headbanging rhythm. These riffs continue to get more crushing as the track goes on and keeps you interested in the song. This song continues pretty much every element you would hope to hear in a black metal tune. The sounds of a veteran at work.
Jonestown - Killing Streak
This band has not disappointed me whatsoever , this track may be a new favorite me. It has straight up kick ass thrash written all over it. Really cool mixture of different vocal inflections. We have a rougher set of vocals reminiscent of motorhead and some higher pitched yells a bit more in the classic thrash fashion. This is a great skating tune or great for a road trip playlist. Jam packed with well thought out melodies and swinging heavy riffs.
Grand Harvest - The Harrow
some Swedish blackened death metal for us today. These drums come in absolutely booming. They sound fantastic and full of thunder. We get a nice really thick bass tone that goes great with this vicious track. For black metal this has some really great grooves , a good mix of slow breakdowns and blistering fast riffs. This chorus is super catchy and memorable. Kick ass artwork. Lyrically it has quite a story to tell and is what you would definitely expect from a band with this kind of aggression. The vocalist knows his job and executed his approach very well furthering the track into something memorable.
Dez Marinkov - The Serpent Queen
Bulgarian prog metal will end off this section of reviews. The intro to this track has a very epic, atmospheric sound to it. We get some really angelic , otherworldly sounding vocals and electronic elements backing up a chunky riff. It sounds quite pleasing to the ear. It has a really simple yet dynamic beat and main riff that is super catchy. The video is really well shot and kept my attention glued in on the story this track is telling. I think the vocals are the real focus here and the beat is meant to be tame but enough to get you to move. it has a very danceable rhythm.
