Kerr Lordygan - True Grime Investigation

You can tell straight away that instrumentally the song is going to be heavy from these intro riffs. The use of guitar tone to portray emotions here is very well done. I think the cleaner vocals definitely could have been mixed better and had some more effects layered into them but the harsher vocals sound pretty good. The effects used on the guitar are heavy , thick and have a really great headbanging quality.

IX of Blades - All The King's Envy

Immediately this track just starts off super catchy. The bass shines through in the mix making the track bouncy, the drums are super bouncy and fun as well. The song is well mixed with a great blend of heavy harsh vocals. Around 1:50 we get a nice little section in the black metal ish area. But overall the track almost has a more indie, punk light hearted instrumental that is carried forward by punching vocals. Pretty cool mix of sounds and vibes!

The Edge of Desolation - The Shrine

This opening riff is super nasty. We get a pig squeal right off the bat which lets you know what you are in for. The verses are delivered in a rapid fire similar to a rap cadence. The snare sounds absolutely disgusting throughout the entire track. The music video is dimly lit in a real grungy looking room , simple and effective. We great a breakdown around 1:40 that peels your face back. Very much recommended for those who enjoy assaults on your ear drum.

Delugge - Bark

The drum tone and heavy bass drum start this track off that gave me the stank face. Then we get some nasty sounding blood curdling vocals with a disturbing sort of staticy sound to them. The guitar comes in and combines everything together. The track just continues to get sludgier and heavier as it goes on. The vocalist does a nice job switching in between cadences. The clean vocals are harsh but melodic , bringing a nice refreshing vibe change carrying the song forward and keeping it interesting.

Dusker - Pissing in the pool

Bit of a different one to end this review session. There is a ton of prog elements that happen in this track but the smack you in the face punk element in this track is amazing. The vocalist sounds like he just had the worst day and is yelling at you directly in an irate manner. What an unexpected shift around one minute in. It gets really smooth, soft and melodic almost like a palate cleanser from the madness. But then we jump straight back into getting scowled at and yelled at! We end the track off in a beautiful melodic bliss in a more indie style of music. Really brilliant track. The song writing skill here is superb.
