Shadowvale - Midas
This opening riff is straight to the point with a crunchy , HEAVY, doom filled riff and just the right amount of dissonance. Things start to get really sludgy when the vocals kick in. You can hear a bit of a hardcore element in this song as well but I think the sludgy doom stoner(ish) riffs shine here. The vocalist really kicks ass here combining clean and harsh vocals super smoothly. It doesn't sound forced. I think the band did a great call on what they went for in terms of production quality. Its a bit of a longer track in true doom metal fashion but this band managed to keep it flowing, interesting and hard hitting throughout the entirety of the track.
Canadian Thrash Cartel - Bathed In Blood
I'm super impressed right off the bat with how authentic this sounds to true thrash. It sounds like this came straight of 1989 and I mean that as a heavy compliment. These tempo changes are fantastic. The lyrics are dark and really delivered well by the vocalists with just the right amount of angst in his voice. Great guitar solo coming in later in the track to really tie the trash themes together. its a simple but effective lyric video. I think if you enjoy Suicidal Tendencies, You will enjoy this group.
ADA - From Heaven...Christ is Thrown
Very "Season of the Abyss" style opening here that doesn't give you a chance to settle into the song and throws you straight into a manic nightmare (positively). I mean the song title should tell you its going to be a face melter and it delivered without disappointment. These slam breakdowns are brutal and the vocalist was definitely born for this. The use of dissonance in the later breakdown in the song is nasty as hell. I love it. Sick artwork , sick song. well done.
Embracing the Enemy - The Governor
This track starts off with a really awesome and captivating percussion opener. The other instruments work their way in seamlessly. I love the effects used on the guitar that give it this nice little twang sound. When the track slows down to present the first verse the bass is nice and chunky. The vocals are super smooth and have this ethereal reverb being used to make the vocals feel light and airy which fills the empty space really well. I really enjoy this vocalists style of harsher vocals, the contrast makes for a very entertaining listen. Lyrically the song is really well written and would fit into nearly all metal playlists.
Koba - Living the Dream
This track wastes no time punching you in the mouth with a deep , dark opening riff. This is just super low , slow and heavy. Instrumentally and vocally it feels super rage filled and primitive. This is definitely a song that makes you want to embrace your inner caveman and destroy shit. The song artwork is very ominous and suits the over all unsettling vibe throughout this track.
